Why does everything need to be public?

Gossip Girl (2007 – 2012)
Nowadays, our society is completely immersed in the digital world, where you are either a public figure or a complete unknown.
The truth is that we have always loved the idea of being seen, but when did it become our greatest ambition? Why are we so afraid of being outsiders?
Mystery is a good thing. We are all allowed to have secrets and live our lives privately, but lately it feels as if we are expected to share even our darkest thoughts online.
We see influencers doing it, making enormous amounts of money, and suddenly we begin to believe that having a stable job is no longer enough.
Everyone wants to be a millionaire. The idea of buying everything with money is appealing to anyone, and when someone presents a way to become rich through posting your life online, people immediately want it too.
Influencers, perfect bodies, perfect lifestyles — we begin to believe that oversharing can give us everything we have ever wanted.
Social media makes people crave a life with no mystery.

Skins (2007 – 2013)
We are constantly influenced by celebrities. We watch their “perfect” lives and start believing that this is what life is supposed to look like.
However, the real issue is believing that this represents an easy life, and that existence should always revolve around applause and validation.
Public figures are haunted by their own opinions. If they say something controversial or become involved with someone disliked by the public, they can be “cancelled” instantly.
Just like that, public opinion can make someone disappear overnight.
Living under the pressure of looking perfect all the time and constantly following a posting schedule sounds like hell for anyone who values privacy.
Imagine never being able to make your own decisions without being watched by millions of strangers online.
And in the end, all of this effort may mean nothing. How many influencers remain relevant forever? How long do you think someone has before people lose interest?
No career is ever that easy, so why risk your privacy for something that may not even be worth it?

You (2018 – 2025)
Mystery disappeared the moment we allowed influencers to dictate the way we live.
We copy every trend, share every detail online, and rarely stop to think about the dangers this exposure can bring into our lives.
Imagine being watched online by someone with bad intentions — someone obsessed with the image you created.
Since when did we need to remind people about basic safety?
“Don’t share where you live, where you work, or where your children go to school.”
In the end, it is all driven by the obsession with the glamour of money.
And sometimes, you may not even achieve it.
Being private is not only a form of protection — it is a right every human being deserves.
Ambition should never come before basic security and peace.
